About
Surface Detail is an amalgamation of a multitude of different musical backgrounds between its four members, consisting of bassist/singer Marceline Hamilton, guitarist Adam Anderson, drummer Andrew Carus & keys/synth player Elaine Masson. There are many genres/artists that influence the band's sound with the main ones showing foremost being progressive metal bands such as Dream Theater & Opeth. The band was formed back in a high school jazz orchestra in October 2022 & ever since has been dedicated to constantly evolving and developing their sound to the best of their ability.
This is evident in the progression of their music over the years with two EPS and the newest single, which is only the beginning of much more to come. The evolution of sound is also factored by the various changes in lineup over time, beginning with two guitarists in writing the first release, then with a different second guitarist with a differing style for the second release, and now with the introduction of Elaine on the synth/keys the sound and style of the band has elevated to a whole new level unlike it has been before both in live performances and in recordings.
Surface Detail's sound is haunting & dramatic - metal that makes you wide-eyed, inspiring scale and immensity. They don't shy away from going out of the box with ideas, going from a relentless attack of noise to a heartfelt pour of emotion throughout whole track list or even throughout one song.
